Our FAQ's

We have put together a helpful list of common questions to hopefully help you. If you can't find the answer you are looking for please just get in touch!

How long do I know I will need?

On average, a builder can assemble about 230 to 250 bricks per hour. So, if you've booked a 2-hour session, we recommend choosing sets with no more than 500 pieces—especially if you'd like some time to enjoy playing with it after the build is complete.

On our Choose Your Set page, you can select how long you plan to stay, and it will sort the sets for you. Then, choose your build age range to see the very best sets for your ability.

How much does it cost?

It costs £5 per builder per hour. You only have to pay if you are building a set. If you're not building, you can simply enjoy a beverage or a delicious snack.

If you are building a large set between two people, both will be considered builders.

Do we have a minimum age?

Children under three years old are not permitted to play with LEGO® sets or pieces. Some of the pieces are very small and may pose a choking hazard. However, we do offer DUPLO for little builders.

1.5+ (DUPLO):
These sets are designed for babies and toddlers, with larger bricks that are easier to handle and help encourage early development.

4+ (Standard LEGO®):
Once a child has developed their fine motor skills and is no longer in the phase of putting things in their mouth, they can move on to standard LEGO® sets, which are suitable for ages 4 and up.

Do I have to book?

We recommend booking online to avoid disappointment and to get the build slot that’s best for you. However, if you’re passing the store, feel free to pop in and book—or, if we have space, just grab a table and start building straight away!

If i finsish my set can I build another one?

Yes, absolutely! You’ve booked the time and can build as many sets as you like within that time.

What if I run out of time?

Provided we’re not full and don’t have another booking, our team will do their best to let you pay for more time so you can finish your set. If your table is booked, we’ll do our best to find you another one.

Where can I park?

We are conveniently located in the centre of Wellington. You can park in the Waitrose car park for free for up to 2 hours. Alternatively, if you're planning to stay longer, you can park at Wellington Longforth Road Car Park, Wellington, Somerset, TA21 8HP, UK, just behind ASDA. The charges are as follows:

Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm

  • 2 hours: £1.20

  • 3 hours: £1.80

  • 4 hours: £2.40

  • All day: £3.00

Can I reserve a set?

Yes. Once you have booked and received your booking confirmation, please email it to us with your preferred set(s), and we will do our best to reserve them for your session.

Is it just for little people?

Absolutely NOT! It’s for people of all ages, so just come along and get involved.

Do you do Birthday Parties and private hire?

Yes, we do! You can hire the café exclusively for your own special 2-hour build and party session. We do require a minimum of 14 days’ notice. Please call or email us so we can arrange a time that works for you.

Please see our Birthdays page for more information and pricing.

If you would like to hire the café for a private event, please contact us to discuss.

Please note: "Unofficial" birthday parties are not permitted in the main area of the café.

Are children supervised?

At Brickhaus Café, the safety and wellbeing of children is our top priority. While our team is committed to creating a fun, calm, and engaging building experience, it is essential that all children are supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Please note that responsibility for the care and supervision of children during visits to Brickhaus Café rests solely with the accompanying adult. At Brickhaus, we take the safety of children very seriously.

In line with NSPCC guidelines, we do not permit children under the age of 12 to build alone.

The NSPCC states:

"The NSPCC suggests children should be at least 12 years old before being left home alone and 16 before being left alone overnight. This guidance is more about the child's maturity and ability to handle being alone rather than a legal age requirement for visiting public places like cafes."

Do you clean the bricks?

Yes. We are constantly checking the sets to ensure you have clean LEGO® to build with. We wash the LEGO regularly to maintain hygiene. Hand sanitiser is also provided to help keep your hands clean and free from stickiness — after all, no one wants sticky bricks!

We ask you wash your hands before starting your build.

Do you allow dogs?

No we do not allow dogs, unless they are special assistant dogs.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Sadly, due to the old layout of the building, we cannot offer access to the toilet. However, you are able to access the front of the space, but you would need to use facilities elsewhere.

Do you cater for allergens?

We do not guarantee that any of our food is free from allergens. All items may come into contact with common allergens, including, but not limited to, nuts, dairy, gluten, soya, and shellfish.
